  • May 8 Clearwire (CLWR) has struck a deal with Qualcomm (QCOM) in which the latter agrees to develop 4G baseband chips that will support the former's pending TD-LTE network. TD-LTE is less popular than FDD-LTE, used by AT&T, Verizon, and others for their 4G deployments, but promises higher download capacity. Yesterday, Clearwire announced a similar deal with struggling 4G chipmaker Sequans (SQNS). CEO Erik Prusch says the Qualcomm deal could pave the way for carrier partnerships.
